The fact that one person visits a country and labels it as a safe country for a family to visit does not mean that this will be the case for other families or visitors nor will the information on this website necessarily be up to date and include any recent incidents of civil unrest or conflict or changing population patterns that can occur during world crisis.

SafeDestinations.com is a personal website of sorts started because of a love of travel had been infused within us over many years of wondering, vacationing, backpacking, hiking and travelling the popular roads and lesser known trails of this great big wonderful world.

We are always heartbroken when we hear stories of travellers who fall victim to thieves, pirates, killers or scammers and wanted to protect our selves as best we could by using one of the best defense tactics available: information.

By learning how to stay safe in our personal trips with family and friends we were able to return home after the end of the trip in one happy, and healthy, piece with all our belongings and dignity intact. We began looking at lists of safe places to visit and how the safety of different countries and cities was rated and compared.

We have evolved the website to incorporate data from agencies and groups recording information and studies on tourism, travel  and the hospitality industry. We also distill data based on environmental issues, health and hygiene of countries and regions of the planet as well to try and create a mix of stories and information to keep ourselves and friends who share the desire to see and as many things and places as possible, to meet as many interesting people as possible, and just plain enjoy the short ride we all have on this whirlwind called life.
